Seinfeld is definitely one of my favourite series. And as you know, preppy and Ivy is how I dress. Now these facts are independent of each other. I promise. Ok, maybe apart from being one of the series’ funniest characters, the fact that George Costanza also dresses impeccably might have slightly affected my judgment.

But the fact is that George Costanza really is a preppy style icon. His collar rolls are to be studied. Paisley ties are like a second language to him. Juggling sports wear with jackets and khaki chinos is as natural as cardigans and cricket sweaters. Even his pseudonym, Art Vandelay, sounds incredibly preppy. Doesn’t it? So when he dresses the part, why wouldn’t he have a house in the Hamptons? It all makes sense!

This won’t be a long read, more an appreciation and inspirational post. Here are some of my favourite George Costanza outfits.

Let’s start looking at some jackets combined with OCBDs with perfect collar rolls.

George Costanza and the polo shirts

George isn’t shy of putting on the polo shirt, and why should he? He looks great wearing it! Sometimes he has it under a jacket, othertimes with khaki chinos, or why not under a cricket sweater.

While it’s definitely not a polo, I wanted to include this rugby-inspired sweater. George shows what preppy is all about. It’s not about keeping things strictly as they’ve always been. It’s rather about mixing things up with something new. Like this rugby-inspired collarless sweater.

Even in a stressful situation like moving Frogger over the street, George keeps up the preppy look with a parka and blackwatch cap.

Thank you for all the laughs, but also thank you for the unexpected but perfect preppy and Ivy inspirational source. George Costanza truly is a style icon.
